Sak Nro̠m Ner (/sak/ /nro̠m/ [evil] [show (performance)]) is a subtropical Town located in the Ḿoůma H́ueo̊ Moot of the Viceroyalty of Rosid.

The name Sak Nro̠m Ner is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Sak Nro̠m Ner was founded by Tsilêd Shumarza, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Sak Nro̠m Ner has a yearly average temperature of 16°C (60°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 29°C (84°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 3°C (37°F). Sak Nro̠m Ner receives an average of 185 cm/y (72 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Sak Nro̠m Ner covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 2870 m (9416 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Sak Nro̠m Ner was founded durring the early 11th century, by Tsilêd Shumarza. The establishment of Sak Nro̠m Ner was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Tsilêd Shumarza electing to pay people to resettle in Sak Nro̠m Ner.

Sak Nro̠m Ner was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the early 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Sak Nro̠m Ner is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Sak Nro̠m Ner is buildings are arranged arround a network of restrictive baked earthen streets which form a diamond shaped grid, where each diamond verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller diamond has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town has a fortified albit thin brick wall. The wall has most of the feeatures of a typical castle wall, just on a much smaller scale and and budget. Notably brick isn't a particuarly soild choice for resisting siege weapons. Sak Nro̠m Ner's wall wouldn't hinder a proper army, but it is more than sufishent for bandits and other small marauding groups. The monster and outlaw focused fortifications has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.

A quick look in any direction shows Sak Nro̠m Ner is filled with vices. There are many taverns, brothels are advertising their services on the streets, cardsharks are plying their illicit trade within public squairs, and every shop has at least three signs advertising various sales on goods. That alone wouldn’t be too noticeable, if it wasn’t just so omnipresent and overwhelmingly how the people of this town live. Or if the general public wasn’t so enthusiastically, openly, and merrily participating in these activities.

Civic Infrastructure

Sak Nro̠m Ner has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Sak Nro̠m Ner.

Sak Nro̠m Ner has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Sak Nro̠m Ner has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Sak Nro̠m Ner has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Sak Nro̠m Ner's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Sak Nro̠m Ner has an Scientific Academy which provides higher education in the natural sciences.

Sak Nro̠m Ner possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Sak Nro̠m Ner's grid is powered by a god's will and kindness.

Sak Nro̠m Ner possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. In spite of the Galvanic Grid, these lights continue to use their old fule sources to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Sak Nro̠m Ner has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Sak Nro̠m Ner has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

The locals have cut a deal with some unspeakable entity, trading some form of tribute (benign of horrific) in exchange for the being’s forbearance or assistance. Outsiders may be ignorant of the bargain, or they may know that the community is in thrall but be too fearful of its master to take action against them. The creature likely serves as a protector as well as a tyrant, so the locals may be content with the deal even if it doesn’t offer any further inducement or aid.

Sak Nro̠m Ner's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is famous for its stately symmetry, classical elements, and grand appearance. Columns and pillars, such as Corinthian columns, are often seen supporting open structures or porticos. Symmetry is an important feature of this style, with each half of a building mirroring the other. Domed ceilings and windows grace these buildings, with everything placed in a mathematical arrangement.

Due to the actions of local Kami, autumn is recurring in Sak Nro̠m Ner.

The Sandman near Sak Nro̠m Ner are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Sak Nro̠m Ner's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves orgies to channel Conjuration energies of tier 3 via guttural bellowing.
